These presentations will provide a philosophical account of contemporary corruption through an examination of the ancient Myth of Gyges in Plato's republic.

"Edward Spence ...has a bold prediction: stoic philosophy, is going to become the practical philosophy of everyday life for the new millennium."
Jacqui Taffel, the Sydney Morning Herald, weekend edition

Corruption comprises a philosophical presentation, a dramatic performance and audience participation to stimulate and enthral enquiring minds. Conceived by Edward Spence and written by Liam Nesbitt it will provide a philosophical account of contemporary corruption by determining, through an analysis of the Myth of Gyges in Plato's Republic, some of the essential and characterising features of corruption.

The dramatic performance, taken from the play 'A Perfect Injustice' will look more widely and deeply at the phenomenon of corruption from a philosophical perspective and attempt to establish the relevance of Plato's philosophy for corruption in contemporary society.

The founder and producer of Philosophy Nights, Edward Spence (PhD) is a lecturer in moral philosophy and applied and professional ethics in the School of Communication at Charles Sturt University.

Liam Nesbitt has written and appeared in a number of Philosophy Nights including "A Perfect Injustice" and "Petophilia".

Fay Akrivou has been involved in the Philosophy Nights productions for two years and has recently worked with the Hellenic Theatre Group.
