Traditional Greek string instruments performed by 'inArt' ensemble

Some of Sydney's leading Australian-Greek musicians formed a new band in 2000, called 'InArt'. The ensemble began to explore and develop their own brand of world music derived from traditional and unique string instruments playing a special brand of rembetiko (a form of Greek Blues music).

In Greek music many string instruments are a smaller representation of their larger cousins. For example, the bouzouki, a Greek guitar instrument, is represented by the minature baglama.

The use of such instruments and the spirit of rembetiko has been captured by InArt who will perform a variety of popular songs in an intimate 1920s style baraki (blues bar) environment. "InArt" features Peter Kalandranis (classic guitar, baglama & tzoura); Anthony Petrantonaki (vocals, lyra, guitar & tsoura), Yianni Anastasiadis (vocals, accordion) and Peter Pitsos (bouzouki & guitar).
