After
choking the streets of Brighton Le Sands with crowds in excess of 50,000
for the last 6 years, the 'Street Fair', is moving to Darling Harbour
to allow more people to share the magic of this truly Greek celebration!
Boasting high quality international artists and the best home grown talent,
the foreshore of Darling Harbour will come alive to the sounds of fabulous
Greek music, the smells of sumptuous Greek Food, dazzling displays of
Greek Dancing and many, many other amazing surprises.
ATHENS2004 @ DARLING HARBOUR
The Festival is honoured on the day with the presence
of the ATHENS 2004 ORGANISING COMMITTEE'S OLYMPIC EXHIBITION. It will
be open to the public for a sneak preview of what is in store when the
games begin on 13 August. The exhibition will be hosted by representatives
from ATHENS 2004 and will include rare historical pieces dating back to
the very first Olympic Games, official memorabilia and a special guest
appearance by ATHENS 2004 mascots, Phevos and Athena. There will also
be heaps of free gifts and suprises for all age groups as well as special
appearances by members of the Australian Olympic Team... a chance to meet
a future Australian Olympic Champion.
National Independence Day Parade
25th March is a day of Celebration commemorating Greece's
historic struggle for national independence in the 1800's. The celebration
includes a procession led by students of the Greek Orthodox Community
Afternoon & Saturday Schools.
The celebration culminates in a program including a
wreath laying ceremony, poetry readings and traditional dancing.
Parade commences 11am from Pyrmont Bridge (south side) and ends at Tumbalong
Park.
DJ Workshops @ Palm Grove
Australia's Premier Greek DJ Krazy Kon is back to pass
his expertise to DJ wannabees on how to master the wheels of steel. Best
DJ win's a guest DJ spot at a Dancebox Entertainment event and on Club
Trela 89.7fm (Mon, 7.30pm).

Tumbalong Park
Allow the hilarious George Kapiniaris lead you through
a fun filled day featuring live music and entertainment from by some of
Sydney's finest Greek-Australian artists.Greek dancing displays and bouzouki
and dance workshops will be complimented by street performers, arts and
crafts stalls, sports activities, a backgammon tournament, plate breaking
and the longest line of Zorba Dancing ever seen! You will also be able
to sample a huge array of Greek food including Souvlakia, Loukoumades,
Pastitsio and Elliniko Cafe at the kafenion!
Lakis Chalkias & Yiannis Dounias
One of Greece's most loved folkloric singers, Lakis
Chalkias, will return to Sydney to captivate the crowds at Darling Harbour
with a moving retrospective covering 2500 years of Greek music. Chalkias
will be accompamied by Yiannis Dounias whose chart topping, popular style
will have you dancing the night away.
The Aquashell
The finest stage in the land will play host to an enthralling
line-up including some very special and well-loved Greek-Australian entertainers.
Join everyones favourite Greek Girl, "Effie"
at 6.30pm to get the evening off to a hilarious start!
The After Party @ The Watershed Hotel
Finish off the day with a few drinks and a boogie overlooking
Sydney's greatest Harbour. Featuring Sydney's finest deejays playing the
best in Modern Greek, International House and RNB.
