The Olympic Games in The Modern World

A lecture by Assoc. Prof. Vrasidas Karalis presenting the ideas and visions of the people who revived the Olympics as an international event and exploring the changes in structure and organisation throughout the 20th century.

Topics include: commercialisation of the games, their future perspectives within a globalised world of borderless competition, the wider significance of the games for the modern world and the dominant ideology of sportsmanship in the last 50 years.
