The Strigla returns…. Groovy!!

Take Away Theatre's sell-out, hilarious, bi-lingual adaptation of Shakespeare's controversial comedy returns to Sidetrack Studio 9.

Directed by Nicholas Papademetriou, Take Away's production transports Shakespeare to the reality and hilarity of Greek Australia in the late 1960s and today. Come and see what happens when a group of cool dudes from the 'noughties' come head to head with a 60's shrew and a 'manga'.

The 'manga' Greek, Petros, fresh off the boat is after a rich bride with a hefty dowry. Katerina, the elder daughter of the Milona family is still unmarried…at 26!!! Of course following Greek tradition, her younger sister Vasiliki cannot get married before her. But Katerina, who rejects her Greek heritage, won't go easily…she'll kick and scream all the way. After all she's Australian and the product of the women's liberation movement. When Katerina is set up with Petros, there are more moves than in World Championship Wrestling.
