A freedom fighter from Chios, Aggoules is one of the most representative cases of a creator who lived and wrote during the harsh period between the two world wars, who grew up and matured poetically and ideologically amidst poverty, exploitation, the barbarism of fascist occupation, behind the barbed wire and bars of jails. He is the proletarian poet
fisherman of Chios who sang of the struggling people, who marched to death
within the horror of the civil war and post civil war period. He is the
poet who behind the barbed wire and the barricades yelled at the oppressors:
