  THE GREEK FESTIVAL OF SYDNEY,
  THE FINAL 2 WEEKS ARE HERE;

Indeed they are, a little sad and a little excited, either way the final events are going to leave the festival with a BANG

I often wonder if people really READ the newsletter, I HOPE they do, but you never know really, it is more an over view of the week ahead within the Greek Festival and I suspect all people receiving this just want a quick update????

If anyone reading this can write to me on; info@greekfestivalofsydney.com.au with want they look to get out of the newsletter I would really appreciate it.

Now to bring you up to speed with what I see being the final highlights of the festival…

7 more events…out of 31 we are pretty close to the end.

There are some very cutting edge events taking place that should really shake the festival up but more than that, there are some beautiful events to celebrate the fact that the Greek Festival is a huge part of the Greek and wider community in general.

This exhibition is a first in The Greek festival of Sydney program…and yet there are so many young talented Greek Australians that do not partake in the “organisational structures” of their culture, but are manifestations of their experiences as individuals gives them a wholly unique slant as people and artists.

This exhibition includes five contemporary artists of Greek descent working within the realms of conceptual instillation and performance art.

The Byzantine Mani – Art and architecture

A DOCUMENTARY: Free

Monday 17th April at the Greek community Club in Lakemba
206 – 210 Lakemba street Lakemba, 9750 0440

Mani, the southernmost and middle peninsula of the Peloponnese or Morea, straddling the districts of Lakonia and Messenia in southern Greece, is a treasure trove of Byzantine and post Byzantine churches, Frankish castles and stunning scenery.

The isolated aspect of this beautiful area, combined with the independent nature of its inhabitants meant that some traditions developed separately from the rest of the Peloponnese so that a distinct society made its mark on the landscape. To this day the architecture of the area is famed for the tower houses and fortified family dwellings from the period of the Ottoman occupation of Greece.

Come and see this rare documentary of one of the most beautiful aincient parts of the world.
