  HOW WAS EASTER?

One week.

Personally, I am relieved. SO TIRED!

I am really proud of the Festival and its amazing success. I never imagined it would be this much of an experience.

There are so many bright, patriotic Greeks in Sydney and for all of those who have attended ANY EVENTS, I invite you all to the CLOSING PARTY OF THE GREEK FESTIVAL OF SYDNEY 2006!!!!!

The evening will include screen projector featuring the hundreds of amazing pictures taken from one and all throughout the festival, all the events, people and experiences through images…..a perfect way to reminisce such a huge month.

Between 4pm and 6pm all part-goers will receive complimentary delicacies, greek mezedes, wine and beer, whilst sitting back by the ocean and listening to the Sweet sounds of Greek and chill out music capturing the ambiance of summer life.

No official closing could take place without a short ceremony announcing it’s official end, as the Board of Directors and Youth committee representatives get on the microphone after a few drinks to give us one final YAISOU, and the very least it will be an official announcement for everyone to let their hair down and gather in the sweet smells and sounds of this luscious location and it’s taste tingling offerings.

NOTE; Georges Bar and Grill are a huge supporter of the Greek Festival of Sydney and we are honoured for their amazing culinary representation of our culture.

Set aside King street Wharf, Georges Bar and Grill have the most exquisite selection of Greek food, beer, wine, comfort and relaxation all rolled into one.

A kitchen that stay’s open late, like it SHOULD! And makes you gorgeous food is a rarity, and it’s GREEK! God love it.

EVENT; Song B12 "Beyond the rolling wave",
Vietnamese and Greek theatre initiative

A Theatre production, that again, involves a number of young backgrounds working together creatively.

Song B12 is the name of the boat that one of the participants came to Australia on. "Beyond the rolling wave" is an extract from the tombstone of the first Greeks buried in Australia. This reads; “In a strange land a stranger finds a grave, far from his home, beyond the rolling wave.”

This is a Vietnamese and Greek theatre initiative. Come and peer beyond the surface and see a sketch of the space where two young women search for their identity amongst multicultural poker machines, girl talk and ceremony.
