The Forgotten Oracles of Delphi Socrates' Fame and Aphrodite's Frenzy A Presentation by Dr. Julia Kindt
Presented
by the Greek Festival of Sydney in conjunction with Sydney University Museums
and Society of Mediterranean Archaeology.
Meet the priestess Pythia and her prophecies on an imaginary trip to Delphi
and its famous oracular institution. Together we will join the ranks of
those who consult the oracle. After gaining admission to the temple we will
test the Pythia's predictive capabilities.
A look at the different types
of responses allegedly delivered at the oracle finally reveals that Delphi
has much more to offer than the widely-known political oracles: the Pythia
is also an expert in matters of career development, mulled wine and even
lovesickness.
