The Greek Festival of Sydney in Conjunction with Marrickville Council Proudly Present: A Window to Tradition
A Night of Timeless Greek Music

From the beginning of the 19th century Greece has produced many talented artists from great composers to fabulous musicians; music became an expression and a testimony of the years of slavery, a weapon of opposition against the military dictatorship and a way to express love, death, human fears, that accompanied Greeks’ everyday life.

This event will showcase a compilation of the most popular songs of the 19th and 20th century. Beginning with the songs of recent decades the journey will include work by Hadjidakis, Theodorakis and Xarchakos, with famous Greek melodies such as “Children of Piraeus” and the “Zorba” dance. As we travel further back in time we will hear songs by great composers such as Vassilis Tsitsanis and many, many more.

In this special night, local artists will come together to showcase the timeless songs. Come and experience the musical journey of a “Window to Tradition”.
