  Anachronos

With the sculptor Nicholas Georgouras

Known for his unique style and dynamic forms, Nicholas Georgouras has been one of Australia’s foremost figurative sculptors for over thirty years. As part of the twenty-eighth Greek Festival, Georgouras will introduce his latest work Anachronos, which draws inspiration from the visionary Greek poet Odysseas Elytis. Elytis’ poem To Axion Esti celebrates the classical Greek spirit which places immense value on the individual. Georgouras’ work, a monumental relief in Australian black granite, reflects some of the most prescient lines of the poem which echo the present state not only of the Greek nation but of the world as a whole.
