The Game of Folly and Prudence

Comedy by George Theotokas, presented by the Sydney University Greek Society, directed by Vrasidas Karalis

During the reign of Emperor Andronicus, the Folly Party ruled the Byzantine Empire. The Emperor himself was the perfect example of a flamboyant womaniser who thought the best policy for the state was the pursuit of pleasure. However, in an exchange with members of the opposition Prudence Party, he puts his masculine pride on the line by betting that he can seduce any virtuous woman, even Areti, sister of the Prudence Party’s leader. The stakes are high, for if he fails Andronicus will lose his throne. Areti learns of their bet and decides to outwit them all...
