  The Poet George Seferis

A presentation by Dr Anthony Dracopoulos George Seferis played a leading role in the radical renewal of Greek poetry which took place in the 1930s. Through his essays as well as his own poetry he made a decisive contribution to the renewal of Greek lyricism and the redefinition of Greek identity, keeping a balance between innovation and the durability of language and tradition. In this lecture we will examine the basic features of Seferis’ innovatory project, focusing on typical poems and extracts from his essays.
