Professor Vrasidas Karalis’ book is the imaginative recreation of living on Glebe Point Road, in Sydney’s inner west, for over thirty years. structured around fleeting moments of compassion, hope, love, as well as death, evil and despair. The narrative is in both prose and poetry as ‘the two zones of being’ are fused: the everyday and the common lead to the transcendental and the uncanny. The Road itself takes active part. Finally, everyone ‘gets the blues’, a cosmic melancholy which the poems seek to articulate. To be launched by the poet and critic David Brooks in collaboration with the publisher, Brandl and Schlesinger.
